islamization of gossip girl

but if u had knew me since back in foundation,

then u'd noe that back in my first semester, i had to go for a level 6 english test and get ready fr muet. so one of the parts of muet was speaking, and im not sure if there was impromtu speech, but in our uia class, we had impromtu speech. in order to practice, out lecturer had this whole long list of topics we had to practice, me being the radical and on the spot girl, i took my chances and did not practice. because most of the topics were kinda cool. *ok, i did practice, i just figured the answers to each question*

exmple of the topics were:

1. what is your favourite book? and why?
2. if u had the chance to travel the world, where wud it be? and why?
3. what is your favourite hobby during free time?

and so on so forth, u can just imagine what were the others...

but there was one i hated,

because i simply dint have the answer.

what question u ask?

what is your favourite tv show and why?

and when they say "why", they dont just let u say, "oh, i love gossip girl because its cool,"

because after that, they will be lik,"so tell me your favourite scene in the show?"

ad ur lik,"oh,this one part serena and blair made up after their fight, where blair went to find serena sitting alone readin a book in the park,"

and my lecturer wud say,"so where is the setting,"

and so on so forth...

well, i dont really watch tv thats one. and the most important reason was actually because my favourite tv show was, AND STILL IS, GOSSIP GIRL!!!

so wat was the problem u ask? well, hello! UIA kot! and remembering correctly, my lecturer was kinda an alim person!~~wel she wore a long tudung and all.. *tho i love her to bits!* i cant write her name, because im afraid she might read my horrendous rants. hehe. but if im not mistaken it started with an R or something..hehe.. anyhow, so guess wht topic i got???

so what did i say?

i said the truth:

honestly madam, i dont really hav a favourite tv show, because i dont really have time to watch tv, but i do dearly like Gossip Girl. 

madam: well, that's not a problem, what is it about?

me: hmmm... actually madam, its a somewhat obscene and overrated show, but that is if you look at it point blankly as they show u, but if u look at it another way....

and tht was wen i islamized gossip girl.

because right madam, although those people on gossip girl are rather free and social and have no limits and boundaries, we can learn from them. in the show, they show and depict to us, lives without borders and total freedom, and how messed up it can be,

well,

one thing for sure i have learnt is that,

that is why Islam had been kind enough to have boundaries and set limits to our souls and lives, so that we will not go astray. Ofcourse, man and their nafs always want whats on television and what these westerners potray to us to be the 'best' and 'ideal' life, but then again, even as viewers, we can feel the pain and emptiness these characters live through. How for example, one of the characters, Blair, even though always chasing after perfection and wanting evrything under her control with the endless flow of cash, she still does not have her share of peace and till today she still denies herself from her love, just because of her ego and supposedly because it is 'just-not-perfect-enough'. that is why in Islam we believe, that perfection only lies in the hands of Allah. and then also we believe that Allah knows what's best. Hence, we try our best, but at the end of the day, we always, always come back to Allah and seek in HIs refuge to help us through, and Tawakkal to Him always.

i love blair dearly,

but its so sad, even up till now, she is not with chuck, and with that, i m very upset!

hahaha

me? upset? over a tv character? i must be out of my mind.

like the olden malay women wud say,

"takde jodoh la tu"

hhaha...

and maybe come up with an islamic point from there too!

i forgot to mention!

there is SOME concept of jodoh in gossip girl!
